We will be migrating our shared web server cPanel 1 to a brand new server, as the current server's hardware has reached the end of it's life expectancy and will no longer be receiving updates.
The new server will include newer version of MySQL, PHP, and CloudLinux, as well as updated cPanel software. Not to worry, the PHP version selector will still be available if you require an older version of PHP.
With this server migration there will be some changes that may require action on your part.
- The migration is mandatory, you are unable to opt out of the migration as the hardware cPanel 1 is running on is being decommissioned entirely.
- The server's hostname and IP will be changing. If you are using the server's IP for your DNS, you will need to update your records to reflect the new IP after the migration.
- If you are using custom nameservers, you will need to update your nameserver records immediately after the migration is complete to avoid service interruption.
- If you are using 3rd party DNS or CDN, such as CloudFlare, you must update your DNS records immediately after the migration is complete to avoid service interruption.
- You should thoroughly test your website and services post migration to ensure everything was migrated and is working correctly. The old server will be decommissioned permanently 7 days post migration.
- The new server uses the latest stable version of MySQL 8. Please ensure that all of your services are compatible with this version of MySQL.
- MySQL 8 has higher requirements for password security, and it is highly recommended you update your passwords to match these higher security standards.
As a note, SharkHost will also be conducting maintenance on the SharkHost website and client area during this time. The SharkHost website and client area may be unavailable for a period of time on this day.
We plan to have everything migrated and running properly with no interruptions to your service, but there is always a chance the migration doesn't go as planned.
Rest assured we are dedicated to providing a seamless experience for this migration.
